Creative Writing
Along with journalism, I studied creative writing and took part in the fiction writing sequence. I won the 2018-2019 J Scott Clark Scholarship for Aptitude in Creative Writing that year, and my first short story, Feels like Home was published in the spring 2019 issue of Palabritas Literary Magazine.

Personal Essay
I'm a fiction writer through and through, but I admire the writers who can express themselves in personal essays and narratives, which inspires me to try it out. If you're someone who thinks every concert is a spiritual experience (or you buy tickets without knowing how you'll get there, you might enjoy this one.

Perfil
I found myself writing in Spanish about U.S. politics for Perfil, a national newspaper in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I worked closely with the editor of the Internacional section and experienced the weird sensation of being a foreigner and writing about your home country’s politics for a country that is more well knowledged in the subject than most Americans I know.

The Chicago Reporter
As an Emma Bowen Fellow, I spent the last two summers at The Chicago Reporter, a non-profit newsroom that specializes in social justice journalism. I wrote and entered over 200 cases into Settling for Misconduct, the Reporter’s extensive police misconduct database that outlines the crimes committed by officers each year and how much the City of Chicago pays for each one.

North by Northwestern Magazine
Wrote for NBN’s Dancefloor section, which varies from long-form journalism to short personal essays (sometimes in under 150 words or less!)
